Daily Diagnosis: Ingo Rademacher Is Not A Hero

Ingo Rademacher is getting more press than he has gotten in a long time. He's about to finally become famous beyond the soap bubble. But will his new found fame result in a career boost? Maybe we should ask Antonio Sabato Jr.

There is a misconception that any press is good press. Many have fallen at the hands of negative public perception making all that attention not worth much in the end. Rademacher's latest string of social media outbursts are certainly providing him the attention he craves but it's not the sort of attention any business should want associated with their brand.

One of the many frustrating parts of this situation is that General Hospital has a lot of good things going for it right now that are being overshadowed by an actor's Instagram rants.  Instead of the recent ratings bump, all eyes are on the narcist screaming that he's better than everyone and calling the fans who have brought those ratings up names. This isn't healthy for him, his fellow employees, the audience or humanity. Especially in these trying times.

He's made GH look like an unsafe work environment. Not only is his spewing of false information regarding the COVID virus and vaccine harmful, but he has said some very disturbing things about race and sex in the past. I'm not on set to know what happens there but from the outside looking in I saw that the response to this harmful behavior has been to provide Rademacher with steady work (he's not a great actor), promote him as the show's big sex symbol (it's not the '90s anymore), and push his pairing as the next big romance (the pairing failed) all while taking screen time (money) away from his minority co-stars. Needless to say things should have been handled better.

Now that GH's leading man Steve Burton has tested positive for COVID, it's possible that the show may handle set concerns about safety more seriously. But they probably wouldn't be in this situation if they had address some issues properly a year ago. I'm not surprised that his behavior escalated and those in charge at GH shouldn't be either. They empowered him.

Days of Our Lives' star Judi Evans has taken to Twitter with some of her own thoughts on the vaccine. Having almost lost both of her legs while in the hospital with COVID, she knows what she's talking about when she says that protecting people from the virus is necessary. "And personally, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to lessen, even possibly lessen the course of this virus. This has nothing to do with anything but compassion and care..." She is not screaming for attention like Rademacher did but pleading that we as society start caring about others and doing the right thing.

On one of Rademacher's Instagram posts, he stated, "If you want to take the vaccine, take it. Just know you’re doing it for yourself, not to save anyone else. You’re not a hero." Well Mr. Rademacher you're not a hero either.
